“For the University of Hohenheim Symphony Orchestra and the Stuttgart Solitude Choir it was a successful trip to the Murau International Music Festival 2018: two wonderful concerts with Zane Zalis’ “NOSTOS – A Journey of Others”. Fantastic soloists, a well-prepared festival choir who supported us in addition to the beautifully illuminated Murau parish church. Moreover, the premiere of Günther Antesberger’s “Triptychon eines Einsamen” (Triptych of a Lonely Human) based on texts in dialect by Siegfried Gelhausen was a delightful challenge. A visit to the Murau Hütte (cabin) and the impressive Open-Air Concert rounded out our stay in Murau. Our sincere thanks go to the organizers, especially to Marko Zeiler. We will take many unforgettable memories back to Stuttgart with us.”
“I know the festival from my performances as a violinist and as a consultant of the string orchestra workshops. As a consultant, I was delighted to see that the young people could also perform onstage with their instruments at the final concert. This was a very special experience for them. In my performances as a violinist, it always amazes me how much the audience in Murau engages with new and unfamiliar music, such as the "Snow Owl" concert in 2015. I'm looking forward to seeing how MIMF will evolve in the future!”
"I was in Murau for the first time for my performance at MIMF where I met lots of friendly people. It was a special honor for me to premiere as a soloist a new composition by Zane Zalis that he wrote especially for my performance! As a classical singer, working with rock musicians was a very unique experience and a challenge as well. Also working with a microphone and sometimes singing very softly or just merely breathing into the mic - at first this is very strange and unusual for an opera singer. But Zane encouraged and inspired me so that my performance in 2013 was a great experience for me – and I hope for the audience as well! I was pleased about the exchange of ideas with the other singers and musicians and especially about the enormous musical potential of the festival. Perhaps a similar collaboration will come about in the future!”
„I had the good fortune to perform as a guest singer at the MIMF Festival and was thrilled by the atmosphere and pleased by how warmly I was welcomed from the very beginning. As a classically trained singer there were lots of new things for me to discover, to learn and to try out. Working with Zane was loads of fun and it was a huge honor for me to sing the composition Zane arranged especially for me. Thanks so much!!! The many enthusiastic musicians, the joy of making music together and the tremendous music were all a terrific experience. Above all, I have wonderful memories of our spontaneously making music together after the Gala Concert!”
"MIMF is a place of musical openness and artistic encounters across the generations. I have wonderful memories of my time in Murau both as a workshop consultant and as a contributing artist – I am a MIMF enthusiast!”
“I was very surprised to be invited to the Murau International Music Festival on very short notice. I flew back to Vienna after a performance with Martin Grubinger in Kiel, Germany and drove more or less directly to Murau. The last part of the trip was driven over a road; on the left and right there was nothing to see but forests and a couple of towns. But when I arrived in Murau I was surprised to see how professionally the festival is carried out. The quality of the music was very good and the atmosphere was great!”
